Pioneer AVIC D2 Review
Pioneer AVIC-D2 – A Cut Above The Rest
Pioneer has launched their new navigation system, the Pioneer AVIC-D2. The model is designed to excel yet with a promise of easy handling and easy looking as well. The huge display panel of six and half inch is easy readable, with the touch panel providing spontaneous operation and the design is as mentioned quite user-friendly in operating with positioning of the basic keys of control around screen that enables an easy reach. The “factory-fit” approach of the design is made to fit in a lot of modern vehicles giving a subtle melding into the dashboard of the vehicle.
No matter how inconspicuous in looks the device Pioneer AVIC-D2 definitely provides a successful media experience, thanks to the multiple multimedia devices built-in such as the CD, AM/FM Radio, WMA, MP3, and more. In addition to all the built-in options the Pioneer AVIC-D2 is all set to deliver a set of very detailed information of traffic, especially effective in the major cities where it works in concurrence with the “XM Nav Traffic Service” and at times an optional service from the “XM Radio Tuner”.
The Pioneer AVIC-D2 has the “In-Dash DVD Multimedia AV Navigation Receiver” that consists of “Double –DIN DVD Navigation System”, with “Dual Drives –a Single CD plus DVD-ROM”, and a “XM Nav Traffic Ready”.
The huge “Tele Atlas –Map Database” that is attached to the 2 DVD ROM drives enabling the user to get the benefit of the biggest network of turn-by-turn road routes. The system is armed with a super fast processor that would calculate within seconds the direction of multiple routes followed by providing directions to all destinations via voice reports and electronic maps. The discs installed would provide anything around eleven million POI or “points of interests” all throughout Canada and the United States that includes even the Hawaii and Alaska as well. The search system is capable of sorting two hundred and fifty eight categories for making it possible to find the nearby gas station, or a restaurant, even an ATM –amazing isn’t it! While the user is being guided by the route map, the points that are of interest get overlaid on the route map as easily recognizable, colorful logos.
The system even comes geared with a rearview camera – an optional accessory of model “ND-BC1”. The system offers two different modes for rear view. While the user is in a reverse mode the camera gets into a full screen, or the second option of seeing what is behind by the help of the split-screen mode. The split mode of the camera would also display successfully both the image of the rear-view camera and the navigation map.
The Pioneer AVIC-D2 guarantees an exceptionally easy access to assistance information on the roadside. The device would display emergency numbers to call, the current location, the street and city, and the name of the state as well along with the latitude and the longitude. It also comes with a dedicated shortcut icon to help locate the nearest of the car dealers.
