Pioneer AVIC-D1 Touch Screen
If you are having issues/problems with your Pioneer AVIC D1 touch screen like certain parts of your screen is dead or not responding (example: You touch/select A but it responds by selecting B) then you might have a screen calibration issue.
PLEASE PROCEED WITH CAUTION AS THIS WEBSITE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES.
If you don't feel comfortable doing this you can always send your Pioneer AVIC D1 to Pioneer dealer and they will fix it for you for around $200.
Alright to recalibrate your Pioneer AVIC D1 touch screen use the following steps:
- Open the face of your AVIC D1 all the way, as if you were going to eject the DVD/CD navigation disc (but don't do it).
- Hold the reset button by moving the joystick (you will need a pen or paperclip to do it) and the navigation disc eject at the same time.
- Now let go of the reset button.
- Now let go of the DVD/CD navigation eject button. The screen will say "Press Reset".
- Press the joystick up two times.
- Press the joystick down two times.
- Press the joystick. Wait a couple seconds, you should now be in the service menu. You should be able to navigate the service menu using the joystick.
- This is the hard part. Navigate to the trace screen (I am sure of the exact name), it should be the first item on the menu. A screen will pop up with the perimeter of the screen outlined. Now trace the screen with the stylus. This somehow lets the Pioneer AVIC D1 the available area that is active.
- Now go back, which is the "P.ADJ" button on the lower right corner.
- Next go to the second menu item, which is the actual touchscreen calibration. Use your stylus and touch the "+" sign on the screen. You will most likely have about a dozen "+" to touch to get the screen calibrated correctly.
- You can now go to the other menus to test if the screen was correctly calibrated.
That's it your done! PLEASE NOTE: The Pioneer AVIC D1 will reset itself and you will lose your saved radio stations, personal settings, etc. After resetting itself the city of Los Angeles will show up on the navigation screen for like the first minute, so don't get alarmed.
When I first tried this I could not get it to calibrate right in "Step 10". I kept on pressing the "+" sign but I could not get the AVIC D1 to acknowledge that I have touch the screen. If you have the same problem as this try the following; In "Step 8" when you trace the perimeter of the screen, don't go all the way to the right side perimeter. Instead lay off about 1/4". This will trick the Pioneer AVIC D1 into thinking that the usable screen is smaller than it really is. After this just follow the rest of the steps as usual. In "Step 10" you may have to be off "+" by about 1/8" to the right. You will understand what I mean after doing it.
I know how frustrating it is when you touch the screen and the buttons are off by 1/2" or so. However, if you do the steps as mentioned I am sure this will fix your problems. Hope this helps you. Please submit any comments you have.
